Drink Up!

Water that is.

Sometimes when we’re feeling tired or hitting the pantry at 3pm, what we actually need is a tall glass of agua.

Adults need about 2L/day. Are you getting enough?

Here are a few ways to get your fix:

Start first thing in the morning: Before sipping on that cup of Joe or downing a glass of juice in the morning, start with water. I recommend 500-1000ml. It’s a great way to activate your system and start the day right! You can even add fresh lemon juice if you want to add a cleansing effect.

Choose a designated water jug: Perhaps your favourite water bottle is on the desk at the office you don’t have access to. In which case, you may need to choose an alternative from your home. I love filling a large Mason Jar and drinking it throughout the day. BONUS: If you’re looking for activities to keep your kids and yourself busy, get crafty by decorating your water jugs! Check out Pinterest for fun ideas!

Hydrate Your Loved Ones: As I started typing, Alex filled up my glass of water. We do this for one another throughout the day. So when you fill up your glass, check to see if your loved ones need a top up too!

NOTES

Wine O’Clock Round The Clock? Now that you’ve lost track of what day of the week it is, that glass of wine you usually saved for Friday and Saturday nights seems to be magically refilled everyday.

That one glass while your cooking can easily become the bottle.

And that special spirit you’ve been saving seems to be going down a little each week.

You don’t have to go sober but if the aforementioned resonates, it might be worth resetting your habits such that you are taking care of yourself—physically, mentally, and financially by mindfully choosing how much alcohol is ok for you. I also invite you to take this a step further and ask yourself how much alcohol is ok with your loved ones for you to consume. See yourself through their eyes, they need you to be healthy and happy.

Slow Down On Caffeine: You usually enjoy 1-2 cups of coffee per day yet you have now lost count of how many cups you seem to be having. This can happen when we are taken out of our regular routines. Coffee tastes amazing and can be a nice boost, however too much of a good thing is never good! Not only is coffee a diuretic, meaning it increases the excretion of water from your body, it can also mess up your sleep cycles when taken later on in the day. I say limit your intake to 1-2 cups before noon and if you really want another cup in your day, make it decaf.

I look forward to hearing what this sparks in you!

Tomorrow we’ll look at a simple tool to cultivate a positive mindset!
