Dear Aspiring Mama: What is your intention?

Dear Aspiring Mama,

Are you feeling scattered?

Do you have several tabs open on your device and in your heart?

Do any parts of you or your life feel rushed?

What would it take for you to slow down enough to go at your natural rhythm?

What if, just for this weekend, you gave yourself permission to allow this rhythm to lead the way? Can you remove distractions just for 48h?

Unplug from what you know you need a break from: social media, online shopping, gossiping, working, watching the news, etc.

I’ll be doing just that this weekend.

As I opened the gates to creativity this week, the flood came. And what is exciting can feel like overwhelm.

After I finished a second bowl of carrot soup in front of my laptop with my earbuds in, I caught myself. Or rather, the pen on my paper did. It wrote this:

Slow down. You are trying to do too many things at once…What is your intention?

Right.

You might be feeling stuck because you are trying to do too much at the same time, and in turn accomplish very little. Or more accurately, what you accomplish doesn’t feel satisfying when attention is scattered.

In order to show up fully engaged, you must clear the way. DO ONE THING AT A TIME. With your whole heart.

Thus, I invite you to reflect and answer the question:

What is your intention? Journal your intention for the year, becoming a mom, your love life, home, self-care, or whatever else matters most to you.

When intentions are clear it is easier to connect to the purpose behind everything you do which can then shed light on what, where, when, and how you want to do things.

Which then makes room for you to see what needs your attention most.

Then comes the hard part—which is made easier thanks to the former—eliminating what is not aligned with your core intention.

Giving yourself undistracted space and time to unplug and answer this question may be just what you need to fill your cup. However, you may also need to fill your cup in other ways prior and after in order to get that full charge you need as badly as your phone.

So I leave you with this:

What does your soul need to fully charge this weekend?

  • It might be having that tough conversation.
  • Going to bed early.
  • Sweating it out.
  • Flowing on your mat.
  • Laughing with an old friend.
  • Wandering in your neighbourhood.
  • Reading or writing a few pages.
  • Dancing slowly or uninhibitedly.
  • Lounging in sweats or putting your Sunday Best on Saturday.
  • Or you might need to meditate—I sure do.

Tune in. Let your soul guide you.

See you Monday!

With love,

Melissa
