10 Mar 3rd Trimester Update!
Can someone pinch me? Or actually, give me a back up instead?
It was not that long ago that I felt that my chance at becoming a mother in this lifetime wasn’t going to happen.
Yet something inside told me to keep the faith. To stay in my lane. To prepare.
Now here we are. I’m 7 months pregnant.
In 10 weeks I’ll be bringing a beautiful baby girl into our world. And I am incredibly honoured.
Entering the 3rd trimester has made it feel all the more real and I want to share this amazing journey with you—especially if, like me, you feel like motherhood has had your name on it since 1st grade and you need to stay rooted on fertile ground even when the going gets tough.
I recorded this update for you last week. In it I share with you:
- Why I’ve kept my maternity clothes purchases to a minimum.
- The 2 books that have guided me along the way & why I have intentionally chosen not to read too many.
- The best app to use during pregnancy!
- Some of the cute baby items I’ve added to our girl’s wardrobe…too cute not to share!
- Why I believe you should consider buying certain things second hand & avoid the “new parent over consumption” trap…or at least try too!
- And loads more!

RESOURCES
The Bump: Best app for daily inspiration & week by week baby development updates + website is great to read articles in larger format.
What To Expect When You’re Expecting: It’s got everything you need…& more! You might also enjoy the What To Expect YouTube Channel with week by week development videos.
Diaper Free: The Gentle Wisdom of Natural Infant Hygiene by Ingrid Bauer: I first heard of this book via @TheGoodwinWay and added it to my book list long before I was pregnant! I loved reading the book and it is so much more than going diaper free! It shares valuable tools and insights about effective communication with your baby.
BABY CLOTHES & ITEMS
In trying to stick to the essentials, I’ve tried to keep the purchases minimal and wanted to find my go-tos for clothes and other items. Here they are for you!
Maternity Clothes: All from GAP! Since I recorded the video I added this incredibly comfortable jumpsuit that will also be great post-partum. I’ve also had to pick up new bras since my sports bras are simply no longer holding anything in anymore. I love Aerie bras and bralettes and plan on using these while nursing as well.
Baby GAP: For essentials such as white bodysuits and extra comfy reversible pants, GAP is great!
Carter’s Osh Kosh: Be careful when you walk in. Cuteness will overwhelm you & prices will delight you!
Babies”R”Us: By far the best service I have experienced from the bigger baby retailers. Got our car seat there and will return for those bigger items that you just can’t or shouldn’t find secondhand.
Kijiji: My favourite go-to! Not only will you find core items on there but you will meet some great people along the way! We got our baby’s dresser, a Hemnes by IKEA for $60 from a lovely McGill student *not to mention not having to put it together is AMAZING, a Dutailier Rocking Chair for less than $300 from an adorable mom who clearly took great care of her things and family.
I created a baby registry on Amazon as I was inspired by Blake Lively’s registry on there. I also love reading reviews as there is just so much out there and I am not the type who wants to research every little detail! Since we are trying to buy core second hand and I am not a traditional baby shower type of gal, we have encouraged friends and family who wish to give presents to consider secondhand items or cash gifts as these can go a long way! More on this later!
With love & light,
