21 May Newborn Essentials NO ONE Talks About
Whether you are an aspiring mama, soon-to-be mama, or seasoned one, we must revisit the conversation of what is truly essential for YOU and your newborn. And it’s not what you find on most Blogs or YouTube videos as those focus on STUFF rather than ways of being and doing. Check out the video below!
There is so much more I want to say about this. But for now, here are a few things for you to open yourself up to:
Your presence: Who you are and how you show up for yourself and your baby are essential. Identifying who you want to be, your values, and exploring the world of meditation are a great place to start.
Learning to take care of yourself to prepare for conception, during pregnancy, and at all stages of your life is essential.
Patience because some days will fly by while some moments will feel like forever.
Grace. As you welcome a newborn, you are also newly born. Be gentle with yourself.
Deep breathing: Take one right now. Inhale. Exhale. Let your belly be soft like your baby’s.
Slow moments: If you are stuck in the hustle and bustle of life, stop that right now. Learn to savour the natural rhythm and flow of your life.
Silence: It is truly a gift.
Properly hydrate & nourish yourself. Get into the good habit of drinking lots of water every day. This will support you as you heal postpartum, through breastfeeding, and keep your skin looking fresh if that’s a key motivator for you!
Start nourishing yourself with foods that light your soul on fire. You will become your baby’s primary source of nutrients, don’t overlook the importance of this.
Fresh air: You need it. So does baby and daddy.
The ability to ask for help when you need it. Start now even if you think you don’t need help.
Say NO unapologetically when you need your space, don’t want something, or to unsolicited advice.
Live your big emotions judgment free.
Own your tired and put it where it needs to go, because becoming a mom shouldn’t only be about being tired and the conversation is getting old.
Healthy habits such as getting dressed, 10min tidying up sessions, cold showers—a saving grace postpartum.
Own your worth. YOU are a magnificent being. A miracle of life. Do not forget this.
Trust your instincts….even when that means admitting you don’t know what to do
Be comfortable with failure. It is part of the process.
Practice positive self talk. It won’t happen on it’s own. It is a muscle.
Choose your village. Let them support you. Your family, friends, partner, coach.

Much love!
