I wouldn’t do what I do if it wasn’t for both the inspiration and support my family provides. 

I’m the youngest of three. My sister, brother, and I were raised in a loving home by amazing parents who taught us to fly.

My mom is an artist. She paints and has been teaching her passion for several decades. She is blunt. Authentic. And the most loving human being that I will ever come across. I don’t understand how she has so much love to give to each of her three children after all these years. But despite everything we’ve put her through, her love has never once dimmed. For those of you who abide by astrology, she’s as Scorpio as they come.

My father is also an artist in his own right. From Monday to Wednesday he puts on his dentist hat and improves people’s quality of life like it’s no big deal. On evenings and from Thursday onward, he writes or tends to the garden. He has several novels on his laptop that I hope he will share with the world one day. But I think his best work of art has been the life he has created for us and his humble devotion to my mother and family.

My sister is a badass restauranteur with passion oozing out of every cell. She not only has a vivid imagination, but she’s also the kind of woman who acts upon her crazy ideas and lets nothing stand in her way.

My brother is a carpenter on the West Coast of Canada. He lives on a little island called Protection where there are no paved roads or stores. His attention to detail and respect for his craft are unparalleled.

Our parents let us spread our wings. Learn to fly. Crash at times—as we all have. They reminded us that we can always overcome and reach new heights.

I’m a proud auntie. Jonathan, William, Ella, and Simone inspire me to pave the way. To show them what is possible.

We’re energetic, loving, and just the right kind of crazy. We are there for one another no matter what. Drive each other nuts at times and constantly challenge one another to grow. At the end of the day, we chose one another for a reason. We forgive, we laugh, and look at one other with pride in our eyes. 

That, and living room dance parties are our thing.
