Mother Nature As Life Coach

Sharing Is Caring!

Our challenge for the future is that we realize we are very much part of the Earth’s ecosystem, and we must learn to respect and live according to the basic biological laws of nature.”

– Jim Fowler

I’m sitting under a hot sun on the patio of the General Store 10min from my home. A few hours ago rain was pouring and now, the sun is shining through a cloudy sky. Nature’s ability to transform and adjust to Earth’s need for equilibrium never ceases to amaze me. (Raindrops have just started falling as I type. She must be listening)

Mother Nature is our greatest life coach. Which is why this post, one that is long overdue, is so special.

The reason it has taken so long for me to get this post to you is due to the fact that I spent most of the summer outdoors. Hiking at my favorite spots. Swimming in lakes. Jumping off cliffs. Napping under the sun. Walking barefoot in the grass. Picking berries from the garden. Spending time in nature is a top priority no matter the season.

My hope is that you feel inspired to make spending time in nature a priority in your life. Even if you live in the heart of a city.

In this article you will find:

  • Seasonal Themes + Tips on how to incorporate these into your life.
  • The Mother Nature As Life Coach Workshop recording. An action-packed video which will leave wanting to dance around barefoot in the cool grass.
  • Simple ways you can connect to nature from wherever you are.

Enjoy!

SPRING

Spring is the season dedicated to new life. After the dark winter months, we are invited to come out of the darkness and step into the light.

The snow melts. Rain pours. Buds turn into leaves. Flowers bloom.

This is a great time to allow things to melt away. Be it ways of being or resolutions you no longer want to carry with you moving forward.

Just as the rain showers the Earth, do what you need to shower your mind, body, and soul.

Awaken your innate vitality by doing a cleanse, such as REVITALIZE. Cut out what is holding you back from fully coming alive. Make room for what will make you thrive.

Plant seeds for what you desire most in all areas of your life. Live with intention and start doing the little things every day to nourish what you planted.

Spring Tip: If you feel a surge of creative energy, don’t hold back. Spring is the perfect time to create your soul’s work.

SUMMER

Summer is the season of pleasure, expression, and unleashing the wild within.

This is your time to come out and wear your colours proudly. Be inspired by the flowers who open themselves uninhibitedly for the world to see. Their inability to be anything but themselves is what makes them so beautiful. Allow yourself to crack open, to be seen, and your beauty is all that will be felt.

Summer Tip: Give yourself plenty of time to rest and play. Lay in the sun. Walk in the woods. Dance from sundown to sunrise. Share your gifts.

AUTUMN

After time basking in the sun, forest bathing, and dancing in the moonlight, autumn sets the stage for transformation, harvest, and letting go.

This season asks us to surrender and embrace the process.

You may step into a new version of yourself just as the trees start turning. If you feel resistance or fear in the face of transformation, allow the leaves to remind you that it is your true nature. Get curious and allow yourself to flow.

Autumn Tip: Allow what is no longer needed to fall away. This includes, and is not limited to: relationships, projects, clothing, and ideas.

This is a key step necessary to welcome in the harvest and prepare for a season of going inward, slowing down, and integration.

WINTER

Winter welcomes death, darkness, and standing still. It is tempting to resist, however, no season’s teachings can be avoided as Mother Nature always has the final word. Listen.

What lessons is winter trying to teach you?

Winter always challenges me most. I have much to learn when it comes to accepting the death of things and giving myself room to slow things down. When living in Tofino, I saw how the community welcomed the season’s theme into their daily routine. Storms brought in waves to surf and afternoons spent reading by candlelight. The shorter days invited us to go to bed earlier, sleep a little longer, move a little slower. It was enriching to learn to work with the season instead of battle against it.

Now that I am back in Quebec, I am still learning to work with winter. Staying put when the storms come. Adapting my morning routine as the days grow shorter and my desire to rest becomes stronger. Enjoying moments spent watching snowflakes dance through the sky. Breathing in the crisp air as I snowshoe through the naked woods.

Winter shows us that we are strong even in our most vulnerable states. Allow yourself to be stripped bare. Give yourself what you need as these are the months that are preparing you for the birthing that’s to come in Spring.

Winter Tip: Look at what the animals in your area do in the winter. Which one do you resonate with most? Perhaps it is time you start structuring your life with the essence of what they are showing you to do.

Were you born to hibernate, go south, or play in the snow? Perhaps you’re a combination of all three or a special breed.
