22 Apr PART IV: Staying Sane During A Pandemic – CAPTURE BEAUTIFUL MOMENTS
Capture Beautiful Moments
We are going through a tremendously challenging time on our precious planet. It can feel as if nothing is going right at times, however today I share with you a simple practice that can support you in keeping a strong and positive mindset. To see the silver lining in order for you to stay healthy mentally and emotionally.
I’m sitting in my rocking chair as the snow falls outside. Although I was excited to feel the warmth provided by yesterday’s sunny, I am seeing the beauty in the snowflakes falling down. Each is unique and a wonderful creation of Mother Nature.
I am cozy and warm in my home. My loved ones are healthy and safe. The handmade cup given to me by a friend years ago contains a yummy herbal tea.
I feel lucky and all it takes is a moment to sit still and notice the beauty surrounding me. Today, I invite you to do the same.
So let’s get to Part IV of this Special Series!

Capture Beautiful Moments
A global pandemic is not something you planned for. A rainy day perhaps, but not a global crisis. So before we begin let me remind you: it’s ok if you don’t feel grounded.
Additionally, it’s not time to go to extremes: be it being overly pessimistic or optimistic. Striking a realistic balance by sticking to the facts and staying level headed will allow you to strengthen your mental state and perhaps slowly find your footing again.
You’ll find an overwhelming amount of information on all that is going wrong. You may be experiencing a level of change that is unheard of. It can be easy to let fear take charge. Don’t.
There is always a silver lining.
You may have been laid off however the silver lining is that you get to spend quality time with your spouse and reset your relationship. This time together may be preparing you for your next career move and you don’t even know it yet.
Your savings have gone down—something you’ve always been afraid of—yet you’re seeing that you’re okay. You can still be YOU despite what your bank account says. Experiencing your fear may make you realize that you are stronger than you think and you may develop a more positive relationship with money in the future as you learn to be yourself no matter what.
You may need to work hard at capturing the good in every single day, but even the smallest thing can help you through this.
One way you can do this is by writing down 1-3 beautiful moments from each day. These can be things you are grateful for and why. Or moments that made you smile despite it all.
I like to write these in my journal and come back to these from time to time. It might be as simple as the laughing fit I had with Alex about the moustache he shaved to make me smile. Or seeing his son feel proud learning how to flip crepes. Taking a nap. Or acknowledging how amazing a salt water bath felt after a long day.
The littlest things truly do add up! The more you focus on these, the more they grow and the more you start seeing the light.
TIP:
If you are spending 1h reading or watching the news around the pandemic, make sure that you are spending an equal amount of time seeking for the positive as traditional news rarely underlines what’s good in the world.
