27 Jun My 10 Favourite Books For Soul Searching, Business, Money, & Happiness!
Very few things beat losing track of time in the pages of a great book. I admit that I am hard to please when it comes to books. I don’t finish books that don’t entice me. I re-read the ones I love over and over again. I’m like that with movies too!
Summer is a great time to dust off those books on your shelf and bring them with you to the beach.
Every book that I have shared here is one that I believe in whole-heartedly. I recommend these to my clients continuously!
I hope that you will pick one to take with you under the sun. Here’s to you living a life that you love, awakening your entrepreneurial spirit, transforming your relationship to money, and getting happier doing it!
Napoleon Hill’s classic Think & Grow Rich is a must-read for anyone interested in attracting more of anything in their life. Although it is primarily focused on how to attract money, the 13 principles can be applied to any area of your life. In fact, it is a required reading for the Y.O.U. Life Coaching Program because of it’s relevance to getting everything that you really want out of life. I’ve read this book more times than I can count and get something out of it every single time. Get a copy and grab a highlighter, you’ll need one for all the goodies you’ll want to remember!
This book is beyond words. Another required reading for the Y.O.U. Life Coaching Program and now my favourite book on personal development of all time. Danielle Laporte’s Fire Starter Sessions is a work of art that will be relevant for generations. She has a way of stringing words together like no other. If you are soul searching, looking for a boost, or need to feel alive again, then this is THE book for you this summer! Buy 2 copies, you’ll want to gift one, trust me!
Don’t have time to read the Fire Starter Sessions quite yet? Check out this 2min video from Danielle Laporte.
Bookmark it as you’ll want to watch it every time you need a pick me up!
Another classic. How to Win Friends And Influence People was written in 1936 and is still relevant today. In a world where we are in need of authentic and meaningful connection, this book might be even more important to read now than ever before.
So many people are in terrible relationships with their money. I know, I used to be one of them! Money was the cause of 80% of my stress and many stomach cramps. A few years ago I made it my mission to change this relationship because I knew that my relationship was harming my overall health. This book came by way thanks to USANA Health Sciences, a company which I am an Associate of. Kate writes from the heart and her view on money may transform yours!
I read Shawn Achor’s The Happiness Advantage on my Kindle in Nicaragua. Not only did I smile reading every chapter because of his witty ways, I also took notes on almost every page! Positive Psychology was just starting out when I was completing my undergraduate studies in Psychology. Positive Psychology and Life Coaching are very similar and Shawn’s 7 principles to fuel success and performance at work are on point. Pick this book up if you feel stuck in your career or simply want to get happy this summer!
To give you an idea of just how GREAT Shawn Achor is, watch his TedTalk below! Inspirational and funny!
I bet that if I asked you to name me 5 of your top strengths that you would be lost for words. Turn that question around to naming 5 weaknesses and I bet you’d have a hard time only naming 5! This is why Marcus Buckingham’s Now, Discover Your Strengths needed to be written.
We live in a world where we push ourselves to get better in areas that do not even strengthen us. What if we played to our strengths and mastered those? Well, as a Life Coach, this is something that I focus on with clients.
When purchasing a new book you will get an access code to complete the StrengthsFinder Assessment. You’ll receive a full report on your Top 5 strengths. If you do not want to wait to receive your copy, you can complete the assessment for $9.99 here!
Are you stopping the entrepreneur in your from revealing herself because of money? Yes, money does help when starting your business, however YOU CAN start your dream business with what you have, NOW! Chris Guillebeau shares relatable case studies of everyday people who have started businesses with less than you might have thought was necessary. Use your vision, ignite your passion, and make it happen. Read this book if you need to see what I mean.
Ok I admit it. I have only read 1/3 of this book. However that was enough to make a difference in how I manage my time and open up my eyes to new possibilities. If you are stuck in a “I have to do it all on my own” mentality or feel imprisoned by time, then you need to read this book.
When I worked for lululemon athletica I had to read books from their Core Library as part of my development. Focal Point was one of the first books that I picked up. It had a lasting impact on me and Brian Tracy’s work has been incredibly influential in my career as a coach. After The Psychology of Achievement Audio, this book is my favourite of his works. If you are lacking focus or feel spread out, then check this one out!

I just finished listening to the Audio version of Tribes this week. This book is A-M-Azing! In fact, anything by Seth Godin that I have read has been nothing short of spectacular. Your inner leader needs to read this book. The world needs you to lead and Seth explains why.
MY SUMMER READING LIST
Anthony Robbins is considered as the father of modern-day Life Coaching. In fact, I used to listen to his cassette tapes in my Walkman as a kid. No joke!
He is an internationally renowned motivational speaker and I had the chance of seeing him speak live at the USANA International Convention last year. He made the stadium explode with energy. His most recent book is apparently amazing and it is on my Kindle waiting for me once I finish Scott Peck’s The Road Less Traveled, (must read for any psychology lover!)
Sheryl Sandberg is the COO at Facebook. Pretty impressive already. I have seen and heard about this book from so many different sources that I had to add it to my list. I admit being a little skeptical about it, but I am curious and looking forward to learning about her perspective on women in the work place. #GirlBoss!
